you have a very good point…but I still like guffawing over anything written by Janet Evanovich. I cannot see her novels being enjoyed by the male persuasion, but I could be wrong.

I agree. All of the novels I’ve read that seem to be written specifically to appeal to men or women are the ones I liked the least. Like ImperfectMomma, I frequently imagine myself as the main character, but I usually don’t switch anything around in my head. Truly great characters and novels have truly universal appeal.

First I have to say your blog title scared me. Then after I read your post I said to myself (because no one else is around) “OOOH, now I get it”.
Second, I have read a lot of novels. I have no issues with who writes it. As long as I enjoy the story, that’s all I care about.

When I read a novel…I always make myself the main character. If its a man, I usually just switch things around in my head to make it apply to me. I think any good writer can make things be seen from any perspective

Well of course sexuality and gender are two very different things, although they often get lumped together.

I believe that all the best things in life are non-gender specific. I also don’t think that there are 2 genders, but that’s a whole different story. I don’t read novels, but I like to think that when we read about any character, whatever their gender there are aspects in their personality that we can relate to.
