I can’t explain it either, but I’ve been horribly emotional about his death. Yeah, I was always a fan of the band – pretty big fan, actually – but I was never emotionally invested in the members. But I dunno – it’s hitting a nerve of significance.

Nope, not calling you old… I don’t remember having the Monkees on as re-runs either… but I did watch every episode of the Partridge Family in re-runs – I guess it was just a way of saying it was out of my sphere of influence so I don’t have as much personal connection to Davy Jones as you or many others I have read about…

He was a charming fellow. Sadly, I could not watch more than about 30 seconds of that first video–I found the dancing annoying as heck! Surely I, too, grew up with Davy, but I don’t remember him dancing like that; I only remember his smile.

Sad, indeed. Many of my own mornings were that much more cheerful for having MTV on in the background as I dressed for work and listening to The Monkees. RIP Davy Jones. And yes. I agree with you that you saw Davy rock those moves first! Hugs, mami. I cry when a celeb/artist whose presence I took for granted in my life passes on too….

I too loved Davy Jones. He was so cute. I used to watch reruns of The Monkees when I was younger and the theme song kept running through my mind. Today, “Daydream Believer” came on my iPod as I was out walking.
