A couple of weekends ago on a Sunday, the weather was gorgeous. My husband thought it would be a great day to take the train downtown and check out the park on the rooftop of the newly reopened Salesforce Transit Center. He wasn’t wrong, the 5.4-acre rooftop park did not disappoint. We strolled, took in the views, enjoyed some snacks and made art courtesy of the art cart at Salesforce Transit Center rooftop park.

After 8 years of construction, the transportation hub originally opened in August of last year only to be shut down six weeks later when two cracked beams were found. On July 1, nine months after it closed, it reopened to the public.
You can take escalators to the rooftop.
When we went, the center was open to the public but no buses or any kind of public transit were actually coming in or going out. MUNI service resumed on the ground level on July 13 and regional bus service will be back at some point later this summer.
This is the art cart.
Basically, it’s a cute little cart stocked with art supplies that you can use free of charge.
As you can imagine, it’s a big hit with kids.
The cart is clearly geared toward children. Supplies are out on display and easy to get to.
But there were plenty of adults using it too.
It’s fun to make art. And I don’t know about you, but I cannot resist free art supplies. I was particularly fond of these blank postcards they had just waiting to be decorated.
From what I can see on the events page for Salesforce Transit Center, the art cart seems to be available whenever the rooftop park is open. How dope is that? They also have all kinds of other free activities available daily.
