September is shaping up to be a pretty exciting month for our household. It happens to be National Hispanic Heritage Month, the month Put Pie was born, and on Labor Day, September 5 the new season of Curious George® premiers on PBS (check your local listings).
Thanks to the wonders of blogging, Put Pie was privy to an advanced viewing party kit which included 3 episodes of Season 6 Curious George® Takes on the Arts. Well, this made the birthday girl very happy because Curious George is kind of a big deal around here.
In season 6, George (I can call him that, we’re tight like that) encourages preschoolers to find their own creativity and get curious about the arts.
Put Pie really enjoyed the episodes and would have been thrilled to just watch those 3 episodes over and over, but since September is also National Hispanic Heritage month she was also sent 5 episodes featuring Curious George’s Latino friend Marco scheduled to re-air the week of September 19th.
Put Pie was already a fan of the Marco episodes and enjoys hearing someone else call their parents Mami and Papi.
My favorite part of the advanced viewing party kit is a bilingual book that is scheduled to be released on October 4 of this year.
I am teaching my daughters Spanish and finding books in Spanish to read to them is always a treat. This one is particularly great because Unknown Papi does not speak or read Spanish so if Put Pie wants him to read her the book, he can do it in English.
I would like to thank PBS for making the season premier of Curious George® coincide with Put Pie’s birth month. Obviously, they know she is his biggest fan. Okay, maybe it’s just a happy coincidence. Still, I think I’ll let Put Pie think it’s all in honor of her third birthday.
Here’s a tiny peak of what we got to see…
We received an advanced viewing party kit to facilitate this review. This post is also my entry for a chance to win $75.

PBS is awesome. I don’t watch television but I have PBS in my netflix queue again and again.
My grandkids and I would always sing Scooby Doo, donde esta. And it cracked us up we would sing it over and over.

Do you find that your public library has enough Spanish language resources? We used a lot of grant money to create a huge section of foreign language materials for adults and children. We bought a LOT of great Spanish books for kids — so much so that we could make a whole Spanish book section in our children’s room. It was wonderful. 🙂
