Before I get to the part where Danny Trejo saves a child, let me start off by saying that I am a HUGE Danny Trejo fan. I’m not just a fan of his acting career, I’m a fan of his whole life story. He is a person who has faced adversity, done wrong and paid for it, made changes and achieved success in a world and industry that aren’t all that receptive to people who look like him or have his background.
And not for nothing, but he’s done it without changing the way he looks or presents himself to fit a mold that was intentionally designed not to accommodate him.
Well, after learning that Trejo saved a child who was in a car accident, I’m an even bigger fan because this guy is courage in action and we should all be like Trejo.
Basically, what happened is that Trejo was driving when he witnessed a serious accident. One of the vehicles in the accident flipped over leaving the driver and a child inside trapped. Trejo jumped into action and with the help of bystander Monica Jackson was able to get the 5-year-old child in the back seat out safely.
Here he is being interviewed about the accident:
What touches me about Trejo is that he’s not walking around trying to be a hero. He simply understands that we are all just here to help each other. He told Eyewitness News, “Everything good that has happened to me has happened as a direct result of helping someone else. Everything.”
Good things happen to people who help others. That’s something many of us forget or never even realize.

I’m not saying we all need to jump into overturned cars that smell like leaking gas to save someone. We’re not all wired that way. But we can all have the courage to find ways to be helpful to each other. #BeLikeTrejo

Actor Danny Trejo was about to drop off his 1965 Buick Riviera for repairs when he saw the sedan next to him run a red light and hit a Ford Explorer, flipping the silver SUV. The “Machete” star jumped into action on Wednesday afternoon, helping a mother pinned behind a smashed driver’s door. The mother kept screaming, “My baby! My baby!,” and Trejo, along with another bystander, got to work saving the child, who was still in his car seat. His grandmother was also trapped in the back.
