We’re spending our weekend getting ready for Day of the Dead.
These are a few of the pictures that will go on our altar.
I have so many more to add. It’s always so sweet to pull the pictures out and reminisce about all these lovely souls. So many of them my daughters never had the chance to meet. The only way they get to know these relatives and friends is through the stories we share with them.

About three years ago I decorated three pots like the one below.
The painted pots still look fantastic. Unfortunately, I keep killing the plants I put in them. This year one of them got a new hairdo in the form of a new plant so that it will be looking its best for Día de los Muertos.

Our collection of Day of the Dead decor keeps growing every year.

I didn’t grow up celebrating Day of the Dead. It wasn’t until I was a mother that I began to do it and it has been so good for us as a family. It’s a way to come together, talk about death and remember those who are no longer with us in a way that is joyous.
Do you celebrate?
