It’s here, it’s here! Summer is here and I’m ready to enjoy it every which way I can. I’m looking forward to entertaining at home all season long and I’m not just talking about entertaining guests, I’m talking about entertaining myself and my hubby as well. Why not? Why should we only entertain others and not ourselves when every day is a special occasion that deserves to be celebrated?
Maybe the reason I think it’s important to make everyday occasions feel special has to do with the fact that I was raised by a Latina mom who knows how to make any moment feel como una celebración, like an impromptu party.
After all life is meant to be enjoyed in the company of others, but let us not forget that we are the company we keep most often. I think I just got a little deep right there. Blame it on summer musings and my mami.
I’m going to share with you a grilled peaches recipe that I paired with Sutter Home Pink Moscato to make a recent night in with hubby extra special, but first will you take a look at how adorbs these individual-sized bottles of Sutter Home wine are?! Sutter Home is a familia-owned company with a long history of providing affordable California wines that help bring people together and I love that they offer these four packs. These dainty darlings are perfect for when you have friends over for a BBQ and want to offer a variety of drink options or for little ol’ you when you just want a single serving of vino to pour into your glass.
Now on to the peaches! BTW, this idea came about because my mami taught me to never waste good fruit and we had peaches that were ripe and ready to be eaten. If you find yourself in a similar situation with pears or apricots, feel free to grill those babies and enjoy with some Sutter Home Pink Moscato too.
Grilled Peaches
Ingredients:
- 2 ripe peaches cut in half with pits removed
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1/8 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon melted butter
Directions:
You can do this on a grill pan or on an actual grill; it’s up to you. Grill or grill pan should be preheated to medium heat. In a small bowl, mix the sugar and cinnamon together. Brush the cut side of the peach with melted butter.
Place the cut side of the peaches down on the grill or grill pan for about 3-4 minutes to give them nice grill marks. While the peaches are grilling cut side down, brush the tops with butter. If you want to do crosshatch grill marks, after grilling the peaches for about 3 minutes, use tongs to turn the peaches about 45 degrees and then grill again for about another 3 minutes. Once you are finished making the grill marks, use tongs to turn peaches over. Sprinkle the tops with the sugar and cinnamon mixture and keep grilling for another 3-6 minutes until peaches are tender.
Serve immediately paired with Sutter Home Pink Moscato and I dare you not to feel like you just turned an everyday moment into something special.
