Let’s just say that the day started with tears, tantrums and more tears. You would think that the tears and tantrums would have come from my 7 or 10-year-old, but no, they came from me. What can I say? I am human, hormonal and on occasion prone to the dramatic. With a start like that, I wasn’t expecting a great day, but Half Moon Bay turned it all around for me.
During the 45 minute drive from our home to Half Moon Bay, I was still not loving the day. The aftermath of tears, tantrums and more tears can leave a person feeling a bit deflated and put upon. Then as luck would have it, we made a wrong turn that turned everything right.
We turned onto this road that leads to the Ritz-Carlton in Half Moon Bay. We were going to turn right back around, but then I saw a sign that said there was free parking for the public who wanted to access the beach. Free is free and the beach by the Ritz-Carlton can’t possibly be bad, so we availed ourselves of the parking and walked down to the beach.
As soon as that beach air slapped some sense into me, I felt so much better. We walked, talked, laughed, ran, got wet and had so much fun.
Thank you Half Moon Bay for being so beautiful and welcoming that I couldn’t possibly sulk anymore. You turned what I was determined would be a crappy day into a happy day. We had such a good time, we’ll be back very soon.
