We went camping in Little Basin with our wonderful friends last weekend.
Little Basin is about a two hour drive away from San Francisco. Nestled in the Santa Cruz mountains it used to be a campground retreat for Hewlett Packard employees. Now the 534 acres are a part of Big Basin Redwoods State Park. It is such a beautiful campground and we lucked out getting a spot that was like WOW!
Getting away from our day-to-day routine, leaving Wi-Fi behind and entertaining ourselves by enjoying our surroundings and each other was fantastic. I would highly recommend this place to anyone interested in camping in Northern California. The one thing that was NOT wonderful was getting eaten alive by mosquitoes. Bring repellent if mosquitoes love you. There were eight of us on this trip and four of us came back home covered in bites; the other four not so much.

I love hiking but have never actually done any camping in the woods. This looks like a lovely place to camp 🙂

I’d be scared but it does look like something out of a movie (in a good way)

I use to enjoy camping when I was younger. Except for the mosquitoes it sounds like it was a good getaway. It is a beautiful area. Our son went to U C Santa Cruz.
