We’re packing and getting ready to drive to SoCal. We’re leaving later this week at 4 am so the girls can sleep most of the way.
You should see how much stuff we are bringing. It is absolutely absurd! The entire back of our Blazer is full and almost none of the stuff is mine or my husband’s. Most of the stuff belongs to the smallest member of the family, Luna Pie.
Luna Pie, my 12 lbs of love, does not travel light. Because of her we are bringing a Bumbo, a playpen (so she can sleep in it), a ton and a half of diapers, wipes, diaper bag, 2 carriers, a car seat, a breast pump and accessories, a lightweight blanket, toys, a stroller…
Oh I’m sure we could go with a lot less stuff, but when Put Pie was less than a year old we made this same trip and brought almost nothing for her and we were all miserable. We had to hit up my mom’s neighbor with kids and borrow toys and a jumper and buy something for her to sleep. This time we are bringing everything with us.
I’m sure she would like me to bring that lady bug toy, but it’s not happening. I have to draw the line somewhere.
Wish us luck! I’ll be blogging on the road as internet service allows.

Good luck and safe travels! It’s crazy how much stuff you end up bringing along just to keep the normal going normal.
Best,
Tina

Your little Luna Pie is beautiful! It’s crazy all the stuff one needs when traveling with a baby, but really if you don’t take it wit you, you’ll wish you had. Safe travels.

Oh do I ever remember THOSE days… travelling with an infant almost requires a TRUCK to carry everything you need!
I hope you have a wonderful trip, stay safe.
Chris H says
Actually, I almost needed TWO TRUCKS cos at one point I had an infant, a one year old, a three year old, and a four year old!
Those were fun days.
Let’s not even try and remember how hard it was once I had the next two babies… LOL.

I remember those days, at times it seemed like a moving van was needed just to take a mini vacation. Good news the older they get the less baggage, that is till they become teenagers. Have a safe trip and a good time.

If, on your way down, you regret not bringing a bouncy seat, swing, activity mat and/or a bag full of baby toys….feel free to stop by as I still have closet full of these things!

Oh go ahead and take the lady bug….it’s much smaller than a stroller and it looks like she likes it a lot. 🙂 Have a great trip.

You’re going to have a blast! Oh, I don’t envy the days of having to pack up half of the house to travel with a little one. Now it’s just a fight over if I’ll let them bring their gameboys or not.

Safe travels. PersonallyI am a light packer, but my hubby shouldn’t be trusted to pack. When AJ was a baby we lived in NZ and would regularly go away for the weekend. The one time my hubby was responsible for packing for AJ, he had one change of clothes for the entire weekend – clearly hadn’t thought that through. I had a few emergency clothes in the nappy bag but no pjs. The poor boy slept in a nappy, a dirty tshirt and a pair of my socks. http://www.flickr.com/photos/82706753@N00/182223360/in/set-72157594187910730

Boy, do I ever remember those days. I know you will all enjoy the time away and you won’t be lonely for your family while you are at the conference. Cool.

We’re going up north this weekend. 🙂 But we’re too old to leave at the crack of dawn. Also, Rachel is now 9. But I remember those days of bringing everything for the baby. She had two suitcases when we went to Hawaii. One recommendation is to just bring one days worth of diapers/food, then hit CostCo when you get there.
