I have to change my evil ways.
It has become painfully obvious to myself and those around me that I have been dedicating too much time to blogging. I managed to take a hobby and turn it into a full blown addiction.
My name is Unknown Mami and I am a blog-oholic!
My blogoholism is affecting my relationships. My husband has told me that I am spending too much time blogging and it needs to stop. Put Pie is too young to complain, but she seems to notice that Mami spends a lot of time in front of the computer.
Blogoholism is affecting my job performance. Part of what I do for a living involves working on the computer from home. Lately, when I’m supposed to be working I’m in the blogosphere.
I am taking the first step and acknowledging that I have a problem. Unlike other addictions I do not intend to give up this habit just taper down a bit. I thought putting it in writing would be a good way to commit to this easier, breezier form of blogging.
From now on, I vow:
- not to post every day (I intend to take Wednesdays and Saturdays off)
- to set aside a particular time each day for blogging and blog related activities instead of letting myself do it every spare moment I have because some of those moments are not really spare
- to give myself a break; it’s supposed to be fun not a chore
- to take the good and leave the bad

It's hard…hard to realize that and then stick to it. (For me, anyway.)Good luck, Unknown Mami! You can do it.

Lol, I hear ya. I knew it was bad when I'd leave Theo in his high-chair after breakfast so I could "quickly" go to Blogland without him fighting me to type on the keypad as well, but then leave him in for so long that he'd literally scream "DOWN! DOWN! DOWN!" from high-chair claustrophobia. Bad mommy; bad!

Hi, Unknown Mami. Welcome.I think there's a lot of that going around. I'm back to posting when I dang well feel like it rather than feeling like I need to post every day. That has been pretty liberating. I still feel like I need to read and comment every day, though. I need to allow myself to get over that, too…Good luck!

Hey thanks for your comment on my post, it's tough right? Anywho, blogging is extremely addictive and they say the first step to recovery is admitting you have a problem:) So, your doing good! I found myself up at 3am checking my blog, I blame it on sleep but, I really think my laptop was whispering my name, just like that ring was whispering to Froto!

I'll jump on your bandwagon too. I took the weekend off and I oddly felt refreshed and not overwhelmed when I came back. Here's to breaking the addiction!!

Like many of your readers, I must agree that the first step is admitting that you have a problem. Look, you're halfway there!Seriously, not letting the computer take over your life is a very, very good thing.-Francesca

Lol! Great post. I totally relate. I haven't posted since Friday; I decided to 'take a few days off'. Ive recently become so enveloped in this great world of blogging, that I've put aside a bunch of other things I enjoy- gardening, loads of picture taking, organizing lol. Being able to do some of these things during the last few days reminded me that blogging isnt quite everything; I can take a day or two off from time to time, and it'll be ok.Remember, you are not alone. We can do this together.

That is smart…When school was in session, I was bloggin on Mondays' and Wednesdays' and reading and making comments on Tues/Thurs…Then if something REALLY blogworthy came along, or I REALLY needed a vent…I would do more…When I was looking after my nieces, I used nap time to catch up…:) It's all good…I am currently addicted to FB Mafia Wars…

ooo, I can so relate. especially about the 'chore' part of it. I find that I'm constantly scoping out new things to blog about..to the point where I found myself not being all that active of a participant in life. Love your blog…Cheersjackie

I think you have definitely made the right choice, especially if your husband is complaining about it.
