Although I love living in California because it’s on the coast, I can’t say that I’ve ever considered myself a beach enthusiast. I like knowing that the beach is there and waiting for me if I choose to go, but most of my life I haven’t chosen to go. Lately, though, I find myself at the beach in the company of my family all the time and I’m so grateful for it.
All week, my daughters and I spend way too much time indoors because of this gawd-awful pandemic. Hours and hours of time inside Monday through Friday, then on Saturday or Sunday we head to the beach as a family and the sun, air, sand and ocean work their magic on us and we smile, play and recharge.
We’re lucky because we live in San Francisco where summers are not usually hot, which means that most of the time we get huge chunks of beach to ourselves and don’t have to worry about getting too close to anyone. There are even times when we can pull down or take off our masks.
We’ve met friends at the beach because it’s easy to practice social distancing there and still have the pleasure of each other’s company. All of the pictures in this post are from various outings we’ve taken to the Ocean Beach in San Francisco this summer. I could show you a ton more, but I will refrain.
This weekend has been very hot in San Francisco, so when we went to the beach as per usual, we had a lot more company. We didn’t stay long because it started getting too crowded for our comfort, but the little time we spent there still managed to fill our hearts with so much love.
