I love myself, so I decided to write a Valentine’s Day love letter to myself. I’m sharing it because I want to encourage you to do the same. It feels good to show yourself some love.
My Valentine’s Day Love Letter to Myself
Hey Boo,
So I wanted to take a moment to tell you how much I love you. I know that self-love hasn’t always been our forte, but we’re getting so much better at it and now seems like the perfect time to celebrate just how far we’ve come.
Let’s start with some of the awesome changes I’ve noticed in the past year.
I’m loving how you look at certain parts of your body that you never used to like to look at like your thighs. Lately when you put lotion on your thighs I notice how instead of criticizing the size of them, you look at them with admiration because they are so dang strong. Nice! It took us a long time to get here, but here we are!
Oh, and that thing that you’ve been doing where you forgive yourself for past mistakes instead of playing said mistakes in a loop of shame when you’re trying to go to sleep?! OH MY GATOS, I’m so proud of you for that. Keep it up. Keep repeating, “I’m sorry. Please forgive me. Thank you. I love you.” to yourself because it works.
And the grace you show yourself when you’re feeling down? Wonderful! There’s a pandemic going on and it’s unreasonable to expect yourself not to have moments of extreme sadness. Thank you for letting yourself sit with those feelings. Thank you for understanding that those feelings won’t last forever and that you aren’t “crazy” or “broken” for having them.
Oh, oh, oh! And how you decided to take Fridays off because you were feeling way too stressed and like you had no time to yourself what with the kids being home and everything?! Brilliant! Don’t think I haven’t noticed the change it’s made. Good call and THANK YOU!
One more thing: You are freakin’ adorable and don’t you forget it! I love how much joy you get out of wearing certain things even when you get negative feedback from those who just don’t know any better. You know your style and it makes you happy.
I love you SO much,
Claudya

“I’m sorry. Please forgive me. Thank you. I love you.” is a mantra I think many of us could well do repeating.
What an amazing post, I’m guessing self-love isn’t a forte for many of us … its siblings self-loathing and self-doubt so much more well known.
