48 Reasons I’m Glad to Be 48 Years Old

My birthday is on Monday. I will be 48 years old. My family is spending the weekend celebrating me and I am not at all shy about being the center of attention.

Aging gets a bad rap. For me getting older has been incredibly liberating. I have so many things to be grateful for and since it is my birthday that I am celebrating, please indulge me as I list a mere 48 reasons I’m glad to be alive in honor of my 48th birthday.

48 Reasons I’m Glad to Be 48 Years Old

  1. Age has made me wiser
  2. I can share that wisdom with my children
  3. I feel happier than I did 10 years ago
  4. I am more confident than I’ve ever been
  5. I have so much love in my life
  6. I have so much love to give
  7. My work brings me joy
  8. I’ve seen enough highs and low to know that nothing is forever
  9. I am kinder than I used to be
  10. I’m getting to enjoy childhood again through my children
  11. I have a better relationship with my mother now than I did when I was younger
  12. I have so much more empathy for others
  13. I feel truly connected to the world and everyone in it
  14. I’m healthy
  15. I laugh easily
  16. I cry easily
  17. I am not jaded
  18. My husband keeps getting hotter
  19. I feel like I’m just getting started in so many areas of my life
  20. I don’t worry about the same petty ish I used to worry about
  21. I see beauty everywhere I go
  22. I am more compassionate with myself
  23. I’m proud of what I’ve accomplished
  24. I know I am resilient
  25. I trust myself
  26. I know I can’t and should do “it” alone
  27. I know it takes a village to do anything
  28. I want to be a part of that village
  29. I want what’s best for all children
  30. I see possibility in every child
  31. I can tune out nonsense and focus on what truly matters
  32. I can and will apologize without shame when I realize I’m wrong
  33. I’ll never be to old to learn from my mistakes
  34. I’ll never be to old to learn period
  35. I am curious
  36. I am afraid, but I don’t let fear make my decisions
  37. I’ve gotten really good at doing nothing
  38. TV shows have gotten so much better
  39. I’m growing spiritually
  40. I know that the only reason I’m here is to help other people
  41. I do no longer feel alone or isolated
  42. I have fantastic dreams and then I wake up to a life I’m grateful for
  43. I’ve learned how to pause before reacting
  44. I like who I am
  45. I have incredible friends that I’ve collected throughout my life
  46. Dancing makes me deliriously happy
  47. I follow the rules that makes sense to me and break the rest
  48. I have awesome grey hair that soaks up vegan all-natural, non-toxic pink hair color without having to be bleached
