Truthfully, I don’t consider myself the “greenest” of the green, but I’m definitely a shade of green. I recycle, use eco-friendly cleaners, carry reusable bags, consider my impact on the environment. I am green, but I am not perfect. I don’t always (like I fail at this one all the time) compost, I use way too many paper towels, I shower longer than I should, I use disposable diapers and wipes, and I’m sure I commit all sorts of other non-greenisms (yes, I coined a term) on my particular green journey, but I’m fine with it because I know that doing some good is better than doing no good at all. I also know that not one single one of us is perfect. Are you green?
A recent study found that some women feel the pressure to be green is stronger than the pressure to be thin and that many feel judged when they commit “eco-violations”. Check out the following infographic…
Forget about shame or stress or pressure. Let’s celebrate the ways in which we can be green and encourage others on their green journey. Trending toward green is so much easier now, than it used to be. Eco-friendly products are available in just about every supermarket. When I travel outside of San Francisco, which is a pretty eco-friendly city, I see that there is a perception from many that you have to be ridiculous to be green and do all sorts of inconvenient things, which is simply not the case.
Speaking of San Francisco greeness, I find this episode of the Green Housewives that pokes fun of the “extreme green” amongst us funny…

the extra cost
Green products definitely cost more but there are ways around that. I shop places like vitacost which has great prices and stock up during sales. I save a lot but it does take a little more time then just grabbing anything off the shelf at the grocery store.

My biggest hurdle is finding a place that takes my recyclables..!! I live in an a apartment that doesn’t have a recyle truck or drop off places in the city..Thanks for this giveaway!
My biggest hurdle is being addicted to electricity.
I need to use my recyclable totes when grocery shopping
The biggest for me is that the green items cost more. That needs to change.
generally cost – about half green, the other things I want will cost too much for our budget
some shade of green – I was expecting 50 shades of them. I believe in recycling and believe it has made a difference.
Yes, it even works in blogging. Recycling posts is a good thing too.
Yes it sure is. Did you write that in reference to my BIONIPT post?

time! i simply don’t have time to do a lot of the earth-friendlier options
I really try to do my best but I need to find time to research about the ingredients in products
It seems like the green products tend to be a lot higher and we are on a really tight budget.
definitely the cost…
My biggest hurdle is giving up the brands I have used for years and trying the new, green ones.
Trusting new brands and the cost thank you for the giveaway
My biggest hurdle is believing that green products clean as well and smell as good as traditional cleaners. Cost is also a huge factor.
cost is the bigger factor for us being green
Time. It takes time to be green by recycling. Also the cost of green products seems to be higher.
My biggest factor is cost.
My biggest problemis the proce
Trusting new brands
Will they work as good??
I’ve been using eco-friendly cleaners for so long, I don’t remember what the other ones clean like.
Not having recycling drop offs near me
the only obstacle is me….laziness….old habits.
Affording some of the cleaners since they tend to be more expensive.
My biggest hurdle is being lazy – I try to use rags to clean up instead of paper towels, but grabbing a paper towel is easier. & when running out w/ my daughter, sometimes I get too lazy to get my reusable bags out of the other car
I’m very bad with paper towels. Apparently, I think they grow on trees. Oh wait, I guess they do.
some products are expensive. That is my biggest hurdle

my biggest hurdle is the expense
Usually cost is the biggest thing and sometimes the extra work it takes like having to wash rags instead of just using paper towels!
The cost
thanks for the great giveaway!
old habits – I’m used to doing things the same way for years & using the same old products
the prices is expensive
My biggest hurdle is the extra time it takes.
mainly the cost
The cost primarily.

My biggest hurdle to being green is finding bathroom products that work as well as conventional products.
Okay the girl drinking the hair conditioner was pretty funny. One of my biggest hurdles to being green is finding the green/natural items available when I’m shopping. There’s several natural laundry detergents I like that I have to buy online.
My biggest hurdle is remembering to look for and buy them.
It’s my laziness
My biggest hurdle is resources: time and money.
My own apathy and money… I’m working on it though
I would love to be green but the extra cost is the biggest issue I have.
most products are more expensive
My biggest hurdle is the extra time and expensive it takes
For me a lot of the products are really expensive, too expensive
i don’t like that being green is more expensive
too expensive
The economy. It’s always so expensive to buy green!

my biggest hurdle to going green is the expense
I would say the cost of the green products is what is hard for me
I’d say availability of products. The military store only seems to carry popular brands.
My biggest hurdle is that so many of them are so much more expensive then ones which are not green.
Thanks for the giveaway…sometimes the only products that will work (i.e. remove rust stains) are the ones with nasty ingredients; for general cleaning we use “green” products.
it is expensive
I don’t take my recycling seriously enough.
Thanks for the contest.

I don’t like the increased cost.
