How will you be bringing in the New Year? Myself, I’ll be at home with my family. I may not even stay awake until midnight. That doesn’t mean I won’t celebrate. I just keep it mellow nowadays.
This is the first year ever that I put up decorations specifically for New Year’s Eve. As a Lowe’s Creative Ideas Network member, I was inspired to set the mood for a sparkly New Year’s Eve celebration.
I have been looking for an excuse to buy a glue gun and this just seemed like the perfect occasion. Now, I just needed to figure out what I wanted to hot glue together. It just so happens that we don’t throw away our toilet paper rolls and instead save them for recycling. I decided to finally make a craft with them.
I turned the toilet paper rolls into a wreath (tutorial to come later) that I decorated with a bow I bought at Lowe’s amongst their holiday décor offerings.
I also grabbed a pair of Holiday Living lighted branches that I put in a ceramic vase that was made by my husband a couple of years ago. The numbers that I used to welcome 2013 are Gateway 5” Solid Zinc Numbers (normally used for house addresses), which I painted with Valspar Glitter Spray Paint.
I love the way everything turned out and it was really easy to do. I think I’ll leave it up through January.
