Oh, you know, I tried to walk by the LeRoy King Carousel at the Children’s Creativity Museum in San Francisco with my two girls as if there was nothing to look at, but they looked and looking meant that they had to have a ride or two (admission let’s you ride twice). It was good old fashioned fun that never gets old.
The carousel was made in 1906 in Rhode Island with the intent of being installed in San Francisco, but then the 1906 earthquake happened. In 1913, after being in Seattle for a while, it did make it’s way to San Francisco, but in 1972 it was bought by a collector who put it in storage before it was moved and put back into use in Long Beach, CA in 1983. Then in 1998, the city of San Francisco bought it, restored it and put it in it’s present location at Yerba Buena Gardens where I hope it stays forever and ever.

Cool. Green Bay has an oldy-but-goody, too. I, too, appreciate nostalgia like this. Thanks for hosting 🙂
