Did you Just Call my Mama a Llama?

My house is not the tidiest place in the world, but I can make it look tidy when need be. However, there is one place in my home that is always a big mess. I don’t even bother to try and make it tidy.

Put Pie’s book shelf is in a constant state of disarray. You probably don’t think it looks that bad from the above picture because you are only seeing part of a shelf. Check out this mess:

And this is on a relatively neat day. The reason her bookshelf is always a mess is that she is an avid pre-reader. She can’t read yet, but she loves books and every single day she uses them. It’s a good thing.

As far as she’s concerned, she can never have too many books so she was pretty excited when she got a package in the mail that contained Llama Llama Home with Mama.

I was excited too because it’s nice to have new material to put into the reading rotation. So what’s the book about?

Ahhh…CHOO! Llama Llama wakes up feeling under the weather. His head is feeling hot and his throat is sore. No school for little Llama today. What is there to do all day? Being sick is such a bore. But when Mama begins to feel sick, Llama knows just what to do. He gets her tissues, fluffs her pillow, and finds a book to read together. Spending time with each other may be just the thing to help Llama and Mama feel better!

The illustrations in the book are fantastic! You can’t tell from these pictures, but they look like paint on canvas.

Put Pie loved the book and we’ve already read it quite a few times.

Do you have a child in your life that would enjoy this book? If so, I’m giving away 3 copies. Use the widget below to enter. The only mandatory entry is that you leave a comment on this post telling me you want to book and then click the “I DID THIS” button on the widget. Everything else is just for extra entries.

I received a sample to facilitate this review and 3 copies are being provided for this giveaway. All statements and opinions are mine.

I think that is exactly what a book corner should look like!  I’ll let some other lucky winner win the book.

We love the Llama llama books! We have Red Pajama and Mad at Mama and we’ve checked out the others from the library. Put Pie’s bookshelf looks perfect to me, btw. 🙂

What a cute book! We have a LLama farm behind our house. Some times they have saddles on them and small children ride them. I guess they are quite trainable.

I hope your girls always love to read!

I’ve have twins, so we won’t even talk about the state of their bookshelves. I wish they’d keep books on them, but they end up on the floor . . . on their beds . . . under their beds . . . anywhere BUT the bookshelves!!

Haven’t seen the Llama llama series, but my Vidur was/is also crazy about books. Refuses to give some of the baby books away. Has close to six or seven hundred books. And I still enjoy reading with him because I have the pleasure of experiencing the transition. Lovely post, UM

I loved those years of reading to, and then with, my daughter…in particular the full set of Chronicles of Narnia. Those were the days! I do miss them.
Put Pie is one lucky little girl to have such a book collection; pat yourself on the back for encouraging the love of books and the desire to enjoy them, both visually and through their words.Cheers, Jenny

Do you know if this book comes in Spanish? I recently read another book in this series “Llama Llama Red Pajama”  In Spanish and it would be cool to find out if the whole series is also available in Spanish. http://www.wegivebooks.org/books/llama-llama-red-pajama—r4tr-spanish?auto_launch=1
