Last year, my husband was in the kitchen chopping veggies for Thanksgiving dinner when I heard something drop followed by a series of pained expletives from him. Turns out he had sliced his finger. The cut was so deep that he wouldn’t let me look at it because you could see the bone and he didn’t want to freak me out. It was clear he needed medical attention and since it was a holiday, he headed directly to the nearest ER. Had I known then what I know now about Dignity Health-GoHealth Urgent Care centers in San Francisco, I would have made sure he went to their urgent care center in the Castro.
I recently had the opportunity to tour the Dignity Health-GoHealth Urgent Care facility in the Castro and, you guys, it’s so much nicer than any ER or doctor’s office that I have ever been to. It’s clean, modern and the exam rooms are luxuriously spacious. Even the floors are nice. All health care facilities should be this attractive and patient-friendly.
What is Dignity Health-GoHealth Urgent Care?
Dignity Health-GoHealth Urgent Care is one of San Francisco’s fastest-growing urgent care providers. There are currently seven convenient locations throughout the city focused on providing patients with an effortless and welcoming care experience. They boast best-in-class net promoter scores and have a high level of patient satisfaction.
Why go to urgent care instead of your doctor or the ER?
Let’s say you have a non-life threatening illness or injury and need to be seen sooner than later. You can try and get an appointment with your doctor, but we all know that getting a same-day appointment isn’t all that easy. You could also go to the ER, but you never know what kind of chaos you will face there or how long it will take for you to actually be treated. Fortunately, those aren’t your only options because you can go to an urgent care facility and be treated in basically no time.
What types of services can you get at urgent care?
You can get treatment for illnesses such as asthma, bronchitis, the common cold, ear aches, influenza, pneumonia, rashes, sinus infections, sore or strep throat, stomach aches, urinary tract infections and viral infections. Urgent care centers can also treat injuries including aches and pains, animal bites, burns and abrasions, cuts and lacerations, fractures or sprains. You can also get flu shots, tetanus testing, STD testing, tuberculosis testing, certain diagnostic X-ray services and so much more.
Who will they treat?
Anyone 6 months and up.
But, the wait, how long is the wait?
Thanks to Dignity Health-GoHealth Urgent Care’s online tools, you can look up centers and their wait times as well as book an appointment before you even leave your home. You can also simply walk in without an appointment and be seen. Their goal is to have you seen within 15 minutes of walking in and have you out the door in 30 minutes. This isn’t because they are rushing, either. It’s because they have streamlined the process to better serve their patients.
And the price?
Dignity Health-GoHealth Urgent Care are in-network participating providers in many commercial insurance plans. For patients without health insurance, they offer self-pay rates.
