DIY: Easy Back-to-School Command Center

Back to School command Center
Sponsored postThe start of the school year is quickly approaching, which of course makes me want to get ready for a successful and smooth academic year. As I laid eyes on the sad-looking command center I set up last year, I knew something had to be done. I mean look at it! Clearly, we need a better back-to-school command center.

School command center
I know, it’s pathetic, but I didn’t really put any thought into it. My eldest was starting kindergarten and I just wanted somewhere for her to put her back pack because I find that in my home if there isn’t a place for everything, everything ends up all over the place.

I love that with just two new pieces I was able to upgrade our school command zone and now it will work for both of my girls.

All I did was buy a mounted coat rack and an address plaque from my local Lowe’s and put them on my wall. Once those were up, I simply added a small flower-shaped cork board and a Hello Kitty clock we already owned.

Now, check it out, the address plaque above is meant to be used outside of your home to display your address. There are adhesive numbers that you can buy to put on there, but I repurposed the plaque to use as a mini-chalkboard where I can write myself reminders of things like upcoming field trips and such.

I didn’t do anything to modify the plaque either. I just write on it with chalk and then wipe it off and it works just fine.

I’m stoked with the results that I got from such a simple upgrade.

Simple is always best! Every time my kids hang their backbacks in their hangers I kiss them!! I love seeing them hanging and not all over the place!

Chalkboard & cork board… brilliant ideas! (As is the sturdy coat rack for the backpacks.)
