This is part of a sponsored campaign with Latina Mom Bloggers and Transitions Optical. However, all opinions expressed are my own.
If you have healthy eyes, be grateful and never ever take your lovely peepers for granted. Imagine how much your world would change if you lost your sight and do whatever you can to protect your vision.
I say this because unfortunately, I have at certain points in my life been careless with my eyes and my eye health and I have caused damage, corneal scarring to be precise. Luckily for me, I was scared into taking care of my eyes.
I also have iritis in my left eye. Iritis, a painful inflammation of the iris, is an autoimmune issue. My iritis is chronic, which means I have to use medicated eye drops and be under the care of a specialist who checks my eye pressure on a regular basis. I think of it as a blessing and a curse. It’s scary to have it, but it makes me stay on top of my eye health like never before.
I’ve shared information about Transitions Optical on this blog for a couple of years now to help spread awareness of eye issues and what you can do to protect your eyesight. You are probably familiar with Transitions® lenses because they are the #1 recommended adaptive lenses worldwide; they are clear indoors and at night, and adapt to sunlight variations while blocking 100 percent of harmful UVA and UVB rays.
I love that Transitions Optical does community outreach to help educate the public. They do things like pair up with the American Diabetes Association and put up events like the one they did recently in San Antonio, Texas, which was attended by over 5,590 visitors and over 329 free vision screenings were provided.
It’s great if you can attend one of their events, but even if you can’t, be sure to check out the Healthy Sight for Life website. When you are there you can type in your ethnicity and age for an assessment of your risks, it’s pretty fascinating.
Also, keep your peepers open for the upcoming “Summer Eye Safety” Twitter party happening on June 19 from 6-7pm PST/9-10pm EST.

How timely, just yesterday Joey…my six year old, asked me when we can go and see his eye doctor (the only doctor he doesn’t like visiting because he doesn’t like the eye drops) because his eye is doing some stuff that feels and looks wrong. He explained it to me and I won’t do it here but I’m so scared and worried because so far there are MINOR problems with his eye (left eye) but something tells me that at THIS annual visit, we might get some news that will gut punch me.
Also, I forgot my password for your comments so I have to post as a guest. I’m Rebecca from Just Another Blog

Oh no, I’ll keep you and Joey in my thoughts. I hope his peeper is okay. My left eye is the one that gives me problems.

I remember you talking about Irititis here before – I had never heard of it before! Eye health is soo important! I just read today about the link between less outdoor time and increased myopia in kids. Very timely post!
