Guess what the fams and I are doing this weekend? We’re heading over to Pier 27 in San Francisco’s Embarcadero to test drive the KIA Soul EV. Why this weekend? Because on October 8th and 9th, Charge Across Town is celebrating the 5th annual EV Week.
What the heck is EV Week, you say? Well, EV stands for “electric vehicle” and Charge Across Town, a non-profit that works to encourage the adoption of electric vehicles, is inviting all to come celebrate National Drive Electric Week and learn about electric vehicle innovation.
I don’t know about you, but I could certainly stand to learn more about electric cars and how they can help lower carbon emissions. I’m all about cleaner, greener living and practice it in many aspects of my life, but I haven’t made the switch to a more eco-friendly vehicle YET, which is why I want to educate myself.
Considering that the Bay Area is home to more electric vehicles than any other region in the nation, it’s a little embarrassing that up until recently I knew like nothing about them other than that they exist and you plug them in instead of pumping them full of gas. I mean can you believe that it had never even occurred to me that having an electric car not only means no gas, but no oil changes and no smog checks either? Oh my gatos, that’s incredible to me. I hate having to deal with oil changes and smog checks. Ain’t nobody got time for that, but if you have a car that runs on fossil fuel, you have to make time for it.
Follow #NDEW2016 and #KiaSoulEV on social media to see how my test drive goes and to learn more about the KIA Soul EV. Or better yet, if you live in the Bay Area stop by the Charge Across Town National Drive Electric Week celebration at Pier 27 in San Francisco on Saturday, October 8 or Sunday, October 9 from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for a test drive and free tacos. Yes, Charge Across Town is giving away FREE TACOS with your test drive. Need I say more?
Would you consider going electric?
