Kim Kardasian has tried unsuccessfully time and time again, but leave it to Selena Quintanilla to break the internet 21 years after her untimely death. ¿Pero cómo?
Pues, what had happened is that everyone and their Tejano-loving abuelas has been anxiously waiting for the release of the limited edition MAC Selena Collection since like quien sabe cuando and it finally went on sale online on October 1.
You can imagine the excitement. Some folks were up at the crack of their pompis stretching their refresh fingers and ready to buy, buy, buy, but dammit MAC was so unprepared for Selena’s gente. They could NOT handle the love and neither could their server.
The excitement that so many have been feeling leading up to the release of the line turned to heartbreak because the MAC website was all wonky and unwelcoming. MAC sent out a tweet saying oopsy during the fiasco.

Somehow some people with magical internet connections did get to shop because before the day even turned into night, the collection sold out and MAC sent out another message saying:
Due to the passion and overwhelming excitement from Selena’s fans, currently #MACSelena is sold out on Maccosmetics.com. We are working to restock the collection.
In the meantime, #MACSelena will be available at Macys.com, Dillards.com, Nordstrom.com, Bloomingdales.com, Belk.com, Saks.com and TheBay.com on Monday, October 3. Additionally, #MACSelena will be available wherever M·A·C is sold in the US and in select stores in Canada beginning on Thursday, October 6.
#MACSelena will launch internationally later this month.
