When I was a child getting a cold was kind of fun, I got to stay home from school, watch too much TV, and get pampered. My colds never seemed to last more than 3 days. Now that I’m an adult, getting colds suck. They never last for just three days and I don’t get to watch too much TV.
Being sick particularly sucks for me because I am prone to panic attacks and one of my triggers is being sick, another trigger is taking medicine ( I do take medication for anxiety, that one does not trigger panic attacks). This is probably more than you need to know, but I’m going to share because I know I’m not the only one.
As soon as I start to feel sick, I get a wave of anxiety and feel like I’m tip-toeing around myself so that I don’t trigger a panic attack. Medicine freaks me out because if it makes me feel groggy or hyper or just plain medicated, I feel like I’m not in “control” and that makes me panic.
I hate that I have panic issues, but I can’t focus on it too much or I’ll get a panic attack.
I’m lucky to have Unknown Papi in my life. He has seem me through many panic attacks and when I jolt up in the middle of the night and tell him what is going on, he holds my hand and reminds me that it is only temporary and it will pass. And it does always pass. Every single time, even when I think that it is never going to go away…it does.
Just like this cold, it will pass.
And now your Friday Fortune Cookie
(don’t forget to add “in bed” at the end, if you are so inclined):
Your everlasting patience will be rewarded sooner or later.

I’m so glad you have the Unknown Papi support in your storm. How scary that fearing a panic attack can cause one.

I don’t know much about panic attacks. I have heard they can pretty much take over. I’ve experienced a breakdown of too much stress many years ago. Just wondering – are you able to learn from the past attacks so that future ones become less frequent? I learned more about handling the stress and angry events after they occurred. all the best stay positive

I have panic attacks a lot. I always think I’m going to die, or I’m seriously ill. It’s no fun at all. I can relate. My partner is less understanding.;)

I’d keep you supplied with a variety of hot soups if you were nearby. And I’d hug you, but the only thing that stops me is – our entire household of three people is also sick with a cold, sore throat and different stages of fever. I am the well-est right now.
You will get well soon. I just talked to your cold!

Sorry you’ve been feeling lousy. Have you ever used a netipot? EVERY time I feel a cold coming on, I hit the netipot, and it knocks it right out. I know using a netipot makes some people freak out, though; even I feel like I’m drowning sometimes but that could be because I almost drowned once as a kid!)

Feel better and remember the cold will pass but a love like that will not.
