Fragmented Fridays

For someone who is under-employed I sure have been working a lot. As many of you know, the contract for my work from home job was not renewed and my husband is currently laid off (he’ll be going back to work next month). Since he is able to take care of Put Pie, I have been picking up extra shifts at my work outside the home job. I’m grateful for the work, but I’m sooo tired and I have had no time to blog. So if I haven’t been around, please forgive my absence. Mami’s got to get paid, y’all!

My camera drowned!!! I do not have a fancy camera, I have an inexpensive point and shoot, but I love the darned thing and this week I was responsible for its drowning. This is what my good friend and constant companion looks like. Isn’t she cute? SamsungShe was in my purse where she always is and I put in a very large bottle of water in there too because I like to stay hydrated, but apparently the bottle was not shut all the way and my camera went for a swim. My camera is not designed to go swimming. She is now drying out on my counter and I am hoping that she will recuperate, but the prognosis is not good. She has condensation in places that should be dry as a bone. Send her positive thoughts or send me a new camera if you can.

Awhile back I won a giveaway from Vino Bodega and this is the lovely bracelet that I got:

photo(Please excuse the quality I had to use my phone since my camera drowned.)

I love it! I’ve already worn it 3 times.

I also won an $80 gift card to CSNStores.com from The Fifty Factor. I’ve already thanked her for it in a previous post, but I wanted to share what I ended up getting. It took me forever to decide because the possibilities were endless. Here’s what I finally picked:

Women's Durer in RedYup, I got a pair of red clogs! I was going to get something practical that the whole family could use and then I was feeling really down because I have no money to spend on fun stuff and I decided that I should just treat myself. I’ve always wanted red clogs and now I have them. Thank you, Joanna! Oh and the best part? They look fantastic with the paper bag I wear over my head.

Also, Joanna is hosting another giveaway for an $80 gift card to CSNStores.com. Click on the link to enter.

And that’s all she wrote!

Have a great weekend!

I can't believe you take such great photos with that little camera! All I get from my point and shoot is junk—maybe it has something to do with where I'm pointing.

About your new red clogs (which I like): May I call you Unknown Mami, the Little Dutch Latina Senora?

Yes you may call me, “Unknown Mami, the Little Dutch Latina Senora”, but it's quite a mouthful and I'm 5'10' in bare feet (6' in those clogs), so you will be the only one calling me “little”.

Ok this time I'm actually going to comment on the post. The earlier one was to give you some FYI.
camera soaked – Important remove the batteries. I had a Nikon point and click get soaked in a downpour. Wife and I got soaked too (oh wife is still drying out). I tried the it out later that day and it acted really strange (the camera) so I just removed the batteries and opened every little opening and set it in a dry place (would that work for the wife?) . Days later it worked and has since.

So did you get a new paper bag?
Do the clogs make clogging noise? That would drive me nuts.

I did remove the battery. I haven't been able to open it up because I don't have a phillips that is small enough so it is taking a very long time to dry out. I really am hoping that it works once it dries out because it has been very useful.

You might want to consider getting and underwater camera – hahaha!

You just never know these days if dried out technology works or not. I think it all depends on the dousing it takes. Sometimes the eye glass repair kits have a small enough screwdriver to remove those screws, if you happen to have one of those in the house.

That bracelet is gorgeous, congrats! I'm glad you chose the red clogs 🙂

Bummer about the camera!! Most cameras are not good swimmers so don't feel like yours was a failure.
Did you try drying it out? Take the battery out, leave the compartment door open, same with memory stick area, and then just drop the entire camera into a container of white rice. Make sure it's covered. Leave it for a few days and then reassemble.
It totally worked when I washed my sons phone TWICE, and aren't phones built just like cameras? Maybe….
Give it a try at least?
And if it works, feel free to do a huge writeup on how wonderful I am. 🙂

Love the bracelet and the clogs!! Lucky lucky lucky!!

I think Disqus has been having quite a bit of issues lately. I've had some email me because they aren't able to leave comments. Yesterday, when I was at work I went to leave you a comment and I couldn't the first time around because it would never let me sign in with my profile. I had to close out the window, start over, and sign in as a guest, but then it still came up with my profile.

I totally understand feeling pulled twelve different ways. I went back to teaching this summer and I feel like I can't even come up for air.

So sorry about the camera. I carry my water that way, too. Maybe I shall rethink that strategy. But congrats on the beautiful bracelet and the red clogs.

Have a great weekend, my friend!!!

That is so crazy; my favorite (and only) camera was drowned on our beach vacation and it is killing me cause I have brand new grand baby Peyton to take photo's of and no camera. Hubby and I are hardly working because of Michael and now Dominic so we are very poor..some day I will get a new camera.
Thank you so much for your comment on my blog. I was a writer long before my brother died, I just wrote for newspapers and magazines. I just always wanted to write books and now I have. I feel so much better thank you:) (((HUGS)))

Try putting your camera into a container/bowl filled with dry rice. The rice will absorb the moisture. I know several people who have done this successfully with their expensive cell phones that have been dropped in the toilet!
