Fragmented Fridays

We are still waiting for our tax return and I am particularly excited about getting it. Why? Because the other day out of the blue my husband says, “I was thinking we could use some of the tax return money to buy you a DSLR camera.” Sometimes that man makes me fall in love with him all over again. So friggin’ sweet and thoughtful.

Of course, I’ve been spending lots of time looking at cameras online since he said that and I was looking to buy the cheapest Canon or Nikon that I could find, then Unknown Papi surprises me again by saying, “You don’t have to get the cheapest one.” Seriously?! Did I mention that I love him.

I don’t want it to sound like I love him because he is giving me stuff. I love him because I can be so stingy with myself. I will just settle for less or do without, but he wants more for me and it reminds me that I shouldn’t be so darned stingy with myself.

Unknown Papi also suggested that I pitch myself to Canon. Perhaps, they would want to sponsor Sundays In My City. I looked at him like he was crazy, but then I thought why not? I wrote Canon an email, which detailed why I thought having them sponsor SIMC would be mutually beneficial. I got no response. I was still proud of myself for approaching them and I was happy to have such a supportive husband.

As I’m sure you’ve noticed, there are a ton of opportunities to win giveaways on blogs. Although I frequent many blogs that offer giveaways (I even host some on occasion), I only enter ones for things I am truly interested in; otherwise it’s just more stuff and I have more stuff than I can handle.

Recently, I entered a giveaway hosted on MamiofMultiples.com and was stoked to win this…

061

I made out like a bandit and was even given a bag to carry all my loot. The reason I was interested in trying out the Johnson’s natural line is that it has…

  • No Parabens
  • No Dyes
  • No Animal Byproducts
  • No Silicones
  • No Lanolin
  • No Paraffin
  • No Petrolatum
  • No Phthalates
  • No Essential Oils

Do you know how hard it is to find baby products without this stuff? Anyway, I’m stoked to be a winner.

And now your Friday Fortune Cookie (don’t forget to add “in bed” at the end, if you are so inclined):

“Most of the shadows of this life are caused by our standing in our own sunshine.” -Ralph Waldo Emerson

Love your new stuff! You know, for some reason I never enter those…I should start and I will!

I love your husband too now. 🙂 He’s so great!

Mrs. MM wants a new camera too. Tax returns are fun for that sort of thing even though I feel I should be saving it as “back-up”.

Your SIMC is very popular and maybe Canon might too big to notice but I think a smaller company might. The company could be in the travel or social network industries and have a good tie into SIMC. If I just managed to get you an idea that works – please just mention my blog when you announce it. Cameras are great family gifts.

I love Johnson’s Naturals. I use it on all three of my kids. That and Aveeno is the best for my oldest who has Eczema pretty badly!

I can’t wait for our taxes! I finally get a laptop. So excited. 🙂

How awesome that you one! Maybe you still will hear back from Canon. I tried something similar with Godiva Chocolates…no luck.

Good luck and good for you, approaching Canon. With all the great pics you take, why not. Maybe I should try to find Kodak Brownie. hehe.

Maybe you can write Cannon a letter here on your site. An open letter of sorts….maybe Nikon will pick up the opportunity to host SIMC! Link back to the two and see what happens. Also, e-mail customer service of each a link to your post. (I just did something where I wrote the wheelchair company we are renting from a letter and I posted the letter on my blog. THEN, I sent an e-mail to customer service with a link to the blog and I am currently in the process of getting what I need! LOTS of phone calls did NOTHING)

Congrats on being a winner and for marrying Papi what a smart man! I think you should approach Nikon now don’t give up yet! If you get a Cannon we bought my daughter’s at Best Buy and bought the extra warranty. Glad we did and some how she doesn’t know how it dropping lens broke and they replaced the whole camera and it’s a newer version and actually better! Have a wonderful weekend!

omg-I’m so excited for you. Let me know what camera you decide on, because I am kind of working on getting one, myself! I found out that Best Buy has 24 months, no interest, so my plan is to sweet-talk my husband into getting me one. My heart has just not been the same since my old camera started being a punk.

    Yea–Congrats on your fabulous win!

Hubby and I agree that I should get some lens attachments for our canon camera. It was his when we met but I totally glommed onto it making it MINE. I would love to do some macro shots that I’ve been seeing around the interwebs. Good luck in your search. New toys are fun.

That is great news about getting a camera. I am still trying to learn how to use mine. I am also excited to hear about the Johnson’s products. Nothing better then natural products for a baby. I buy as many natural products for myself. I often wonder why we haven’t had natural products all along, they are the best!
