Fragmented Fridays

Have you heard of the “Sperm Wug”? It’s a type of parasite that attaches itself to otherwise healthy men’s sperm and causes them severe pain when they scratch their genitals. I had never heard of it either until word verification told me about it.

Okay, I might have made that up, but you know I hate word verification.
Butterfly in the sky, I can go twice as high
Take a look, it’s in a book – Reading Rainbow.

I can go anywhere!
Friends to know and ways to grow – Reading Rainbow.

I can be anything!
Take a look, it’s in a book – Reading Rainbow

I just found out that Reading Rainbow is to be no more. I’m so sad. I have such fond memories of that show and it makes my heart ache that my daughter will not grow up watching it.

Am I the only one that walks through life feeling like a raw nerve? I don’t understand why seemingly trivial things get under my skin so much. For example, I have a friend who is delightful in every way except one. Her fatal flaw is that she drives me crazy when she eats toast. Big deal, you’re thinking. Well, it would be fine if she didn’t insist on eating toast every time I see her. I mean really, how much toast can one human being ingest in a lifetime? And the way she eats it, like it’s taffy sticking to her teeth and she has to reach into her mouth and pick at the pieces. It’s enough to make me want to stop being friends.

Another thing that has been bothering me lately is that most people just don’t listen. So I have a challenge for you: this weekend really take the time to listen to the people in your life, don’t just wait for your turn to talk, talk over them, or find a way to turn the topic into something that relates to you. Truly listen.

Sperm wug? Sounds scary! That’s a great challenge. Can I also issue
it to my family? Who NEVER listens to me? I had a total meltdown last
weekend when I pulled out the dryer lint filter and could’ve made a
flipping pillow out of all the stuff in there. I yelled. I threw
    things. They never listen!

Reading Rainbow is going away? Princess Nagger used to watch it. She
liked Between the Lions, too – that’s at least another great reading one
that Put Pie might get to enjoy.Listening is so underrated – we definitely need to make a conscious effort to do it more. :)Happy FF! 🙂

The toast thing bothers me so much, not so much because it’s toast
(although that’s strange!) but because she’s putting her fingers in her
mouth. I have a genetic immune problem, I’m susceptible to
everything and whenever I see people pick their teeth I flip. It’s
unhygenic and disgusting. There’s also H1N1. A friend of mine
lost her son to H1N1 this summer. I haven’t blogged about it because
it’s just too raw for her — but H1N1 is real and it’s contagious. Not
everyone who gets it dies, but who wants to find out who does and who
doesn’t, it’s shocking and heartbreaking to have someone die from the
flu. No adult should be picking their teeth or putting their
hands in their mouths for any reason these days. It’s hard enough to
teach the kids, and the really little ones can’t be taught at all. But
an adult? It’s loca. Their own life and someone else’s could depend
upon it.Sorry for the monologue (!) but this is so important. Not that, you know, sperm wug isn’t 😉

I can’t stand when people pick in their mouth after their food. What’s
up with that? People who I think are rather cultured in every other way
do that and it freaks me out. I adore Reading Rainbow. My kids
grew up with it and they adore it too. This is a true shame. When I
think of the types of shows that are freely being aired in place of it, I
want to scream or pick my teeth.

yes, small irritations get under my skin. I’ll tell you a *big*

Why do people insist on piling *into* a confined space like a lift or
crowded train *before* letting people out (whose absence will obviously
free up some space)? Come on people – this is the basics of early
