Welcome to another edition of I Comment Therefore I Am, where I put together a post from comments I’ve left on other blogs. Below are some of my favorite posts from the previous week and what they inspired me to say.
Nancy at Away We Go admitted that she is a snob. I think it takes great courage to examine ourselves and face our shortcomings.
I think there is a snob in all of us. Mine likes to come out and ruin a perfectly good time by being judgmental and stand-offish. It sometimes really surprises me when this snob chooses to make an appearance. I realize that this snob says more about me than it does about whatever or whoever is being judged. I need to snub the snob in me.
How do you feel about Barbie? Me, I’ve never been too crazy about her. I read a great post at Our Feet Are The Same about Barbie and it helped put things in perspective for me.
This is very timely for me. We have a new neighbor and she very kindly gave my daughter (19 months) two Collectors Barbies that she has had for years still in the package. I am not a fan of Barbie, but you know it was still very nice of her since she doesn’t even really know us. As we walked away, I said to my husband, “I guess it wouldn’t be gracious of me to go into a feminist diatribe of why I don’t like Barbie.”I don’t like Barney either, but a certain 19 month old seems to like him a little. I just hope she doesn’t grow up wanting to look like a giant purple dinosaur.
I mentioned that I work from home in a post last week and Kerri’s Klutter asked for more details:
It’s very hard to work from home. I have to wait until my daughter is napping or sleeping. Otherwise she walks up to the laptop and waves goodbye to it as she tries to close the lid. Oh and if my husband is home taking care of her, he interrupts me to help him. I tell him, “Hey, I don’t show up at your work and ask you to change a diaper.” He doesn’t think that is a good comparison. He’s wrong.
That’s it for this edition of I Comment Therefore I Am.
