Junk Art in Sebastopol

A few weeks ago, my husband drove our whole crew to Sebastapol, California. From our home base in San Francisco it’s about an hour and a half treck. He took us there because he wanted to introduce us to the junk art of Patrick Amiot and Brigitte Laurent. They aren’t just partners in art, they are married and partners in life.

When I say “the junk art of Patrick Amiot and Brigitte Laurent,” I mean the art they make out of junk and not that I think their art is junk. I’ve seen art made out of found and discarded objects before. I love it. I think it’s a great way to express creativity and save “garbage” from ending up in a landfill.

The art I saw in Sebastopol is not like anything I’ve seen before, though. This is some next-level stuff. From what I gathered on Patrick’s website, he creates the sculptures and Brigitte finishes bringing them to life with paint. The results are phenomenal.

The pieces that we got to see were all delightful, whimsical and truly inspiring. They make you want to see the possibilities in every object you come across.
