Let the Festivities Begin!!!!

Bienvenidos!!! Welcome to my party!

You see on April 17, 2009, Unknown Mami was born! Unknown Mami is turning 1!!! You can read my very first post HERE it has 0 comments.

I could not be happier or prouder of this little blog and I want to thank you all for being a part of it! I’m celebrating for more than one day because I can. Stick around, take your turn at the piñata, and if you make it to the end of this post you might win something BIG!

Wanna know what I got this little blog for its birthday? I got it business cards! Have a look:

(The caption reads: Just another unknown mami with a blog.)

Are you wondering why this little blog would need a business card? Well, I’m getting flown to Miami for the launch of a website and I needed contact info to hand out!!!

That’s right! Unknown Mami is going to be in Miami. That’s Unknown Mami in Miami! Do you live in or near Miami? Wanna come and meet me? You might even see me without the paper bag over my head. Here’s the invite if you are interested:

Are you still here? Great! I was tagged by The Blessings of Modern Domestication to list three joys, fears, goals, and obsessions and I thought I would include it in this celebration.

Let’s start with joys, shall we:

  • You! It has been my extreme pleasure to interact with all of you. I had no idea how much I would come to care for my virtual friends.
  • Getting comments on any post I write. It is already an honor to have anyone read, but to have someone make an extra effort to leave a comment is a treat that does not make me gain weight. I didn’t get a comment until my 8th post and you would have thought I won the lottery, I was so happy.
  • Developing as a writer. I never considered myself a writer, but I’ve found my voice and writing has become an essential part of my creative life.

Fears:

  • Misspelling something. The other day I wrote disclamer instead of disclaimer and hit publish before I noticed the mistake.
  • Burn out. Running out of things to write about (yeah, like that will ever happen).
  • That my blog will be turned into a movie and I won’t get a part or I’ll have to play my mother instead of me. Although, I do my mother very well.

Obsessions:

  • Sundays In My City. I love this feature on my blog and I want it to continue to grow. I would love to see all parts of the world represented.
  • Learning. I learn so much from other bloggers. I never want to get to the point where I think I know it all because I never will.
  • Change. Watching myself and my blog change. It’s all good.

Now, let’s get to the good part. What’s a birthday party without some kind of present? I wish I could give you all a gift, but alas I am not made of money. I can however give one of you an awesome gift. I am giving away a $50 Amazon.com e-gift card (gift card will be sent to your email address) to one lucky follower!!!

What do you have to do to win? Mandatory entry:

  • You must be a new or current follower (I love you all, but I would like to reward my public followers. You can join with that google friend connect widget on my sidebar.) and you must leave me a comment saying that you are a new or current follower and that you would like to be entered to win the gift card.

That’s it!

Want extra entries?

  • Follow one of my followers. Go follow them, tell them I sent you, then come back and tell me who you are following. Try not to follow just the people in the front of the list. Mix it up. You can do this up to 3 times for three separate entries.
  • Tweet: Win $50 Amazon.com e-card @UnknownMami http://tinyurl.com/yyrj63m. You must come back and tell me that you tweeted in the comments of this post for it to count as an entry. You can do this once a day until the contest is over.

Each entry must be made in a separate comment to be counted as a separate entry.

You have until 4/19/10 at midnight PST to enter. A winner will be chosen at random and announced on 4/20/10
