Dear Friend,
If I call you my friend, it goes without saying that I love you. You know that, right?
I love spending time with you when you are happy, I love laughing with you, I love sharing all the wonderful moments that a life well-lived can provide. I will never ever tire of sharing the good with you. And although I wish the bad would never touch you because you are my friend and I love you, I understand that sometimes it will. I understand that sometimes what you are going through is not worthy of laughter and can not be eased by anything but time. And in those moments, you will still continue to be my friend and I will continue to love you with tears on your face and pain in your heart.
In those difficult times, I expect nothing of you. I would like you to expect something of me, though. Expect me to care and listen. Expect me to want to share your burden. Expect me to understand that you have a reason to be down. I will try to bring you up, but if I can’t… that’s okay…I will wait until you are ready.
I have no doubt that if the situation were reversed you would feel the same way.
