Live Every Minute Because Every Minute Matters

live every minute, make every minute count

Do you live every minute? Do you make every minute count?

I’ve been listening to The Steve Harvey Morning Show when I drive my daughters to school per my husband’s suggestion and I’m hooked. It’s fun and enjoyable, but I did not expect Steve Harvey to blow my mind, but that is exactly what he did.

I am a firm believer that we all have lessons to learn in this life and sometimes there is one particular lesson that we have to keep learning over and over because even though we know something, we seem to keep forgetting it. For me one of those lessons is on being present. I throw so much away by not being present.

So I’m driving and I don’t even remember exactly what was being discussed on the show, but someone asked Steve how he does it. I’m assuming that by “it” whoever was asking meant all of it, everything that he does. He basically answered that he lives every minute of the day and the fog in my brain just disappeared. I am not kidding you that even right now the thought of this brings tears to my eyes.

He talked about how the problem with many people is that they divide their day into chunks like morning and night instead of living every single minute. Holy cow! Then he went on to say that we are all given the same amount of minutes in the day. Ain’t that the truth?!

Wow, I had never thought of equality in that way before. We may not have as much as someone else does as far as money goes, but we all have the same amount of minutes in a day and it is a choice to live each and every minute, to not let them slip by or worse yet, to throw them away.

It’s basic, basic stuff, but it’s a basic that I needed to be reminded of. It’s a truth that my soul knows, but my mind forgets time and time again.

You never know who is going to educate or enlighten you, never. That’s why you need to be receptive and open to listening. I certainly did not expect Steve Harvey to get my brain in tune with my soul, but he did just that by sharing his perspective and I’m so glad I was listening.

So, do you? Do you live every minute?

Very good and true point about all of us having the same number of minutes in a day.
Unless you are imprisoned most of us have a good amount of freedom on how to spend most of those minutes. Attitude is powerful and important.
It’s been said time is money. I don’t think it works in the other direction. Maybe time is a gift. Sharing gifts – rewarding thing to do.

Considering I’m always running Cubantime, I think I do… just an hour later than I’m supposed to. ; ) BB2U

I felt kind of silly writing it, but I’m telling you listening to Steve Harvey say he lives every minute really did something wonderful to me.

Great, great post. It takes some a lifetime to realize this important lesson. A great book that you might enjoy because it talks about this very topic is Ekhart Tolle’s THE POWER OF NOW. It blew my mind and made me realize how much of my mental energy was spent in the past and the future, like the present never happened.

I know, right? Love those A-Ha! moments. Living in the moment is the best way to be. And it is funny how certain things we’re nagged about constantly and choose to ignore…suddenly see the light from the most unexpected source.

Love the post! I try my best to live in the moment.
