I had a hard time titling this post. I could have called it:
- If Mitt Romney were Latino would he have a better chance of winning?
- Is Mitt Romney funny?
- Why Mitt Romney wishes he were Mexican
In the end, I named it Mitt Romney Tells a Joke because that’s what inspired the post. Mitt Romney made a joke that went a little something like this (I am editing, you can see the whole thing on the video below):
My dad…was born in Mexico. Had he been born of Mexican parents, I’d have a better shot of winning this, but he was not. And I say that jokingly, but it would be helpful to be Latino.
I am a big fan of humor and I appreciate the shout out to the power of my Latino brothers and sisters, but what’s really funny is that I’m pretty sure that being Latino has NEVER helped anybody become President of the United States of America. Or am I wrong? Actually…
All joking aside, it is a big election year and regardless of your party affiliation and whether we agree or not, I want to remind you to VOTE. Please, be a part of the process.
Not registered to vote? No problem, register to vote online. It’s easy and takes about two minutes.

I plan to vote right after Joey gets a cavity fixed 🙁 But oh well……I’m excited and hope the guy who is the best fit for the position wins. 🙂

Quite a few comments that politicians make totally floor me! Your mouth is open wide in shock and think “Did he seriously just say that?” If they are saying slurs “in jest” can you imagine what they are really thinking?

I love this video! People love an underdog story, especially politicians who can use it to sell their image. But there’s no underdog story with Mitt. Sadly, the truth is that very very few underdogs “make it”. Can you imagine if a gay Latina was running for president? It would be awesome, but she would be shredded to bits. I hope someday soon that won’t be the case. I would love to see something like that in my lifetime.

Great video clip. I noticed it was paid for by a Jewish political group, interesting. With his Mexican connection (I heard it was because of Grandfather’s polygamy problems – wikipedia says so but I don’t know) you would think he would be trying his hand at Spanish more. It can’t be any worse than his singing. I have the same singing skills but I’m not running for President. He should of been told that in today’s video recorded world you need to realize what you say to impress one group with be spread to all other groups too. Who knows if he ends up winning, but I know his career as a comedian is going nowhere.

This is no joke: gas prices where we are just hit $4.45 a gallon where we are, the nearest doctor who will take new medicaid patients ( namely me) is a 2 hour drive from Owls Head NY. All I know is, Democrats had their chance and they blew it- the economy absolutely is in the shitters. Who will I vote for? Not Obama, that much I DO know.

I’m sure that joke is very funny to white people. He probably wishes he were Latino so that Latinos would over look his stupid ideas and horrible personality and just see that he was a Latino and vote for him. Does he think we’re that stupid and blind?
