On Complaining and Being Grateful (Fragmented Fridays)

On the one hand…

Just because I don't complain, doesn't mean I have nothing to complain about.

On the other hand…

I always have something to be grateful for.

Today I’m grateful that I was able to pay some bills, eat homemade carrot cake muffins that I made for my family, sleep longer than usual, get on my computer even though I need a new one.

And now your Friday Fortune Cookie
(don’t forget to add “in bed” at the end, if you are so inclined):

Don’t forget to be grateful.

I was just thinking about the word in Spanish, la gripe. It’s easy to complain, especially if one has reason. Many of my friends have la gripe right now. I am grateful I can pay my bills, which I am doing today, and I, too, am grateful for computer time even if the screen occasionally has “issues.” I would love a new one, too.

Yesterday the “L” key on my computer started flapping as in it is trying to break off. I started to get upset and then realized, it’s just a minor inconvenience and that my computer still does most of what it needs to do and that it is just a reminder to start saving up for a new one.

Ah it might be a reminder that you use the “L” too much.  Lay off the “L” or else a little key will leave you “ove” instead of “love”.

Hey Claudya! I like to reflect and appreciate, and will always talk about the good things that happen in a day, not the bad. I salute you! Indigo

Great reminder. I think sometimes loneliness is masked by complaints, people who want others to reach out to them and support them. It’s an immature way to get friends to support but it’s common. Kind of like the little neglected kid trying to get their parents attention by being bad. Little do they realize that reaching out and encouraging others brings it back to you. You, C. Are an encourager and you deserve every good thing you get.

Those are beautiful things to have in your life. Making a gratefulness list always helps me put things into perspective.

carrot cake – great with rich frosting and crunchy nuts.  I don’t know about your muffins but I bet your family loves them.  Muffins are more personal than cakes.  Sharing cake is more common than sharing muffins.  I should apply for grant money to study the differences between cakes and muffins.  Nah, maybe I’m just getting the late afternoon munchies.

Homemade carrot cake muffins? Recipe please! How do they compare to your mexican chocolate oatmeal ones?

Maybe I’ll post the recipe next week. I would say these are a bit more dense/hearty than the Mexican chocolate oatmeal muffins. I don’t think I can choose between the two as I like them both. The carrot ones are low fat because I replace the butter with applesauce, which also lets me cut the sugar in half.

Awesome. I do the applesauce trick with brownies (in lieu of oil), but didn’t know it could work for butter too. Thanks!

I feel what you wrote in your post today, Claudya. I am a little non-existent right now, as my head is all focused on my wounds. 😀 Taking longer than it should, thanks to an allergy kicking in at the most inappropriate time. Although, what time is appropriate for any setback? 🙂 Hugs. You inspire.
