Recently, I started referring to my life and surroundings as a beautiful mess*. The term makes me feel happy because even though there may be some clutter surrounding me, it’s more of a “lived in, I have better things to do than constantly be picking up” sort of mess than an actual mess. There are however a few areas that I have decided need to be more of an organized mess. For starters, my purse situation is no longer working for me. I’ve turned into that nut that can’t find her car keys or her wallet or get out of your way fast enough. I’m thinking I need something with more compartments sort of like a briefcase, but not a boring “I’m going to a board meeting” sort of case, more like an “urban mami that gets stuff done and sometimes needs her netbook with her” sort of case. Something like this:
(This one is kind of big, but I really like it and I can just imagine it aging well.)
I’d also really like to get my shoes organized. In case you are not familiar with housing in San Francisco, let’s just say that storage space in a home built circa the early 1900’s is tight. My closet is tiny and my shoes do not all fit in there. I’ve gotten rid of a lot of pairs, but I’m not willing to get rid of anymore. I tried storing them under my bed, but it gets really dusty under there and I really don’t want to have to dust my shoes on a regular basis, so I was thinking I should look into getting something along the lines of this:
Then there is the most beautiful mess of all that must be dealt with multiple times a day, my daughter’s toy collection. She is very blessed to be the owner of an extensive array of divertissements thanks to her generous paternal grandmother, but boy do they clutter up a place. At the moment she does not have a toy box, we just pile her toys into a large plastic tub. I would love to switch the ugly tub out for one of these:
Well, guess what? My good friends over at CSN Stores are going to help me organize a bit of my beautiful mess by letting me review one of the above items. Can you guess which one I chose? I’ll let you know in an upcoming post.
*The term “beautiful mess” was lifted from a post of the beautiful blog The Smitten Image.

I’m guessing the thing in the middle. I want one too! 🙂

Well…the first two would help keep you stylish. The last one would help save your sanity…so it’s a toss up.

I like the toy chest – go for that one.

I’m so glad you’re able to do these reviews in order acquire some much-needed items. And I get such a kick out of your linkage and credit for the term “beautiful mess.” Thank you for that. 🙂
I’m thinking the chest.. or the shelves.

I would totally take the organizer/purse thingie!!!!!!!! Love that.

there are underbed storage containers for shoes that have a clear zip cover to keep the shoes dust free, but visible. i’ve found that the open storage of shoes becomes just another bit of visual clutter. i hope that chest works because it is gorgeous! i love the longer bag, rather than the briefcase. good luck, sugar! xoxoxo
rebecca says
I like the cubby because it can be used for more than just shoes
Joanna Jenkins says
I’m guessing the shoe organizer, but all three are great choices.
Hope you’re feeling good and ready for a wonderful and relaxing Thanksgiving!

Let’s see….pregnant with child number two, probably nesting but with a desire to maintain that professional woman look….this is a tough one. My heart says the chest because you close the top and never really have to organize, but my mind says bag in photo number two – professional, yet could double as a diaper/baby bag. Yup! I’m going with Photo #2.

Oh, gosh….I’d think shoes or toys. I didn’t narrow it down much did I. I’m thinking toys.

I’ll bet you go for handbag #2!

i like handbag #1. and as much as i like the chest with the lid… i just imagine everything getting shoved in there… never to be seen again.

Can’t guess what you will choose from these. They are all cool, but don’t forget you will soon be needing a very cool urban-Mami diaper bag also.

I love love love the term beautiful mess! I too, use it to describe my home. 🙂 I am guessing one of the things to make your life easier…wait a minute that could be all 3 of them. 🙂 Happy Tuesday. XX

That toy box is a thing of beauty. It’s like all classy and such.
Indiana Jones would refer to that bag as a “satchel”.
Classic NYer says
I would guess the bag… if only because that’s what I would choose.

I’m thinking the toy chest for your daughter??

You have great taste, that’s all there is too it!

I hope it’s the shoe rack. My husband made one for us and it is sooooo handy for keeping the shoes we always wear right at the door.

You really wanted the bag the most with the shoe organizer coming in at a close second. However, being the Mami to beat all Mamis, and with another Unknown Baby on the way, meaning more toys, you chose the toy box. Am I good or what? 🙂

You are very good!

CSN has the best items. I would pick that first briefcase. I am going to guess that you picked the shelving for shoes.
Paula says
Hi Unknown Mami!
I love those types of bags/briefcase contraption too! I am forever looking for one (or two) but no luck so far. The closest one I was able to get my hands on was a vintage find but I had to return it because the strap was broken =( Oh well, someday.

I’ll bet you got the shelf; the toybox could never be big enough, and the briefcase is beautiful, but you’re gonna be hanging out at home for a while… 🙂 Hope you’re feeling great. Have a nice Thanksgiving!
The Absence of Alternatives says
You are NESTING! 🙂

I’m going to guess the bag, but I would TOTALLY choose the shoe thing. LOVE IT!!! Yay, can’t wait to find out what you chose. Man, I wanna do these reviews. I am so jealous!
