Someone I know loves playing in the sand at Stinson Beach, which is a good thing because the thing about beaches in Northern California is that the water is make-your-teeth-chatter kind of cold all year long.
Oh, sure, we sit in the sun, get hot and then bravely head over to see how far into the ocean we can get, but usually, it is not very far because BRRRRRRR. Regardless, we have so much fun and the sand provides hours and hour of fun for both of my kids, but in particular my eldest. It’s like she is made of sand and completely in her element.
She loves the sand so much that she looks at us perplexed every time we tell her to stop getting it all over us. Like she really doesn’t get why we would go to the beach and then complain about getting sand all over ourselves and everything we brought with us, food included.
It takes a little less than an hour on a good day to get to Stinson Beach in Marin County from San Francisco. If you are going on a sunny weekend, I recommend you get your butt out of bed and out the door early because the traffic and crowds get CRAZY after about 11:00 a.m.
