Popeyes Chicken Sandwich Is Back and I Tried It

Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen

Remember how back in August Popeyes added a chicken sandwich to their menu and people went so nuts for it that it sold out in just two weeks? Well, it’s back. Popeyes Chicken Sandwich is back just in time for National Sandwich Day on November 3.

Popeyes announced the return of the sandwich on Twitter.

Y’all…the sandwich is back Sunday, November 3rd. Then every day. 🤯🔥 pic.twitter.com/JDxyCIv0zz

Truth be told, I missed the announcement on Twitter, but I happen to live within walking distance of a Popeyes that didn’t wait until November 3 to start selling the sandwiches.

I saw this sign in the window of my local Popeyes on November 2.

I’ve been wanting to try the sandwich since it first launched because of all the hype and FOMO. When the sandwich sold out in August so many tummies were left wanting, mine included.

Even Oprah’s BFF Gayle King, couldn’t get one.

We are SO psyched today nephew @cameronharrison6 ready to taste THEEE CHICKEN sandwich @popeyeslouisianakitchen swipe left for our reax … whomp whomp …. ..we also called FIFTEEN locations how do you run out of that sandwich on SUNDAY???!!!! May need therapy to recover

She joked that she was considering therapy to deal with the disappointment of not being able to get her hands on one.

Others like Cardi B went to extremes.

When Cardi B couldn’t get one in New York, she hopped on a plane and went to LA to get one.

The rest of us would just have to wait and the wait is now over.

Before I get into what I thought of the sandwich, please allow me dump all of my guilt about even wanting to try this sandwich on you first. I feel guilty because I wish I were the kind of person that never ate fast food. Why? Because I know that it’s bad for me, bad for the environment and bad for the animals that are bred and raised to keep the industry going, but I am not that kind of person. Instead, I am the kind of person who knows better but still eats fast food on occasion because it tastes good and I am weak. Judge me if you must.

Now, back to Popeyes Chicken Sandwich.

Popeyes Chicken Sandwich

It’s unassuming in appearance. It’s not ugly or anything, but certainly not the most photogenic chicken sandwich I’ve ever seen. It’s basically a very crispy fried boneless chicken breast and sliced pickles between two buns dressed with mayonnaise.

Is it good?

Popeyes Chicken Sandwich Review

Heck yeah! The chicken is super crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. The bun has a buttery flavor to it, the pickles are thicker than on other fast-food chicken sandwiches and if you like mayo, the mayo tastes like mayo.

Would I buy it again?

Absolutely, but let me remind you of the guilt I feel when I consume fast food. Because of that guilt, I only eat fast food occasionally, but I could see myself having one of these a few times a year and definitely on a road trip.

Have you tried it?

Jealous! I’ll have to swing by Popeye’s today in hopes of scoring a sandwich.

Love this and you!! We have a Popeyes close to our house too, and my kids have always wanted to go. We occasionally eat fast food as well… I always feel a little guilty too, then I say to myself, “I grew up having fast food more than just occasionally, and I turned out ok!!”
We’re going to try it soon!! I’ll report back soon!
