Predictable

Some endings are just so predictable. Take this one for example…

Recent conversation with Put Pie

Put Pie: Mahmah, whe goin?

Unknown Mami: We’re going in the big car to pick up Papi and then we are going to a BBQ.

Put Pie: (holding a toy ladybug with wheels in her hands) Me take dis?

Unknown Mami: I don’t know mi’ja. I can’t help you carry it or pull it. You have to do it yourself even if you get tired.

Put Pie: Me do it.

Unknown Mami: Are you sure? Mami is not going to do it for you.

Put Pie: OhKay, Mahmah. Me do it. Me big gul.

Unknown Mami: Okay, Big Girl. You can bring it.

And you know what? She did a great job on the way there, never once asking for help.

And on the way home I was really impressed that she didn’t have to be reminded that it was her responsibility.

IMG_0619
I was so proud of my big girl.

Until I looked away for a second.

Next thing I know, Papi is pulling it for her.

It gets worse! After I took this picture, Papi made me pull it the rest of the way home. The indignity of it! I couldn’t take a picture of myself pulling it; you’ll just have to take my word for it. Serves me right for thinking this story could end any other way.

Not too surprising. Kids seem to have a knack of knowing when to hit on daddy or mommy. I think it must be a survival trait.
