OMG! Wait, what? Is Rosie Perez leaving The View after only being there for four months? That’s what I’m reading on Variety. Rosie had taken January off of The View to be in a play on Broadway called, “Fish in the Dark.” Good for her! According to Variety, Rosie won’t be coming back to The View after her Broadway gig, though.
Supposedly, “insiders” (whatever that means) are saying that Rosie never got a handle on the show’s mix of “hard and soft news” AND that she has trouble reading from the TelePrompTer (that ish is hard you guys).
A rep for The View said, “Her status with the show has not changed.” But of course that’s no guarantee that it won’t.
I have to say it saddens me if Rosie Perez is truly leaving The View. I’ll be honest, I never really got a chance to watch her on it because up until recently I was gainfully employed during the time it airs, but still I loved the idea that someone who looks like Rosie and sounds like Rosie and is like Rosie was being broadcast into homes across the nation because we need more Latinas on general market TV period, but we also specifically need more successful Latinas on TV just doing their thang.

The view is a tough place to find your groove on. I was happy that they had mixed it up with this cast and if she is leaving (for whatever reason) I hope they get another Latina on the show. I’ll be keeping an ear out. In the mean, I hope she’s kicking A on Broadway!
