San Francisco Tops List of 20 Best Cities for Trick or Treating

Best neighborhoods to trick or treat in San Francisco

I’m not gonna lie, when I found out that San Francisco was rated the top trick or treating city in the nation for the fifth year in a row by the data crunchers over at Zillow I was more than a little shocked. Why? Well, I’ve lived in San Francisco since 1992 and I can tell you that in all those years I have never once had a trick-or-treater come to my door.

Yes, I know there are neighborhoods in the city that are popular for trick-or-treaters, but I would never have imagined that San Francisco would get rated so high on the list of best cities for trick or treating. The ranking was determined by what “cities provide the most candy, with the fewest walking and safety risks.” Check it out!

Best Cities for Trick or Treating

I think it’s great that San Francisco is at the top of the list, but like I told you before there are entire areas of the city where there is no trick or treating to be had so where exactly in the city should you head if you want to score candy on Halloween? I got ya!

5 Best Neighborhoods in San Francisco for Trick or Treating

5 Best Neighborhoods in San Francisco for Trick or Treating

  1. Presidio Heights
  2. Sea Cliff
  3. Cow Hollow
  4. Glen Park
  5. Noe Valley

This info is again according to data compiled by the folks at Zillow. My neighborhood is not on the list above so bummer, but the good thing is that within walking distance from where I live, over in the Duboce Triangle area there are lots of homes that give out candy on Halloween and it’s fun to see all the kids walking up and down the streets gathering sweets. That area might not have made the top five best neighborhoods in SF for trick or treating, but we’re happy to have discovered it a couple years back and plan on returning there again this year.
