SEE: 3-year-old’s Compelling Cupcakes for Dinner Argument

Mateo wants cupcakes for dinnerYou guys, if you have not had the pleasure of watching 3-year-old Mateo debate with his mother Linda Beltran about having cupcakes for dinner, then you really must check out this video. Mateo is awesome, adorable, and quite the little debater.

What happened was that he did not eat his dinner. He was told by his mother that there would be no fun had if he did not eat dinner. Then he found a stash of cupcakes and wanted some. Naturally, he was told that was a no-go. That did not stop this adorable and resourceful child. He decided to use his good looks and charm on his grandmother who would surely cave to his sugar cravings.

As they say, the apple does not fall far from the tree. His mother is no dummy and figured out what he was up to. When she told him he was in trouble, he became the lawyer in his own defense. He postures, he pleads, he distracts his mother with arguments that have nothing to do with the cupcake issue at hand. His mother surreptitiously caught his antics on video.

I love that he calls his mother Linda. If he called her mom, he would not be taken seriously. At one point he says, “Linda, honey, just listen!” I don’t know how his mother was able to keep a straight face. Is it wrong that I want to go out and buy this kid a dozen cupcakes?

Seriously, check out this cuteness!

He’s a smart cookie. Or should I say smart cupcake? I fully expect one day he will be a politician or a personal injury lawyer.

Call me a Debby Downer, but as a spec ed teacher, I picture the three-year-old charmer turning into a 30-year-old douche and a Cassenova. I see that kind of persistence and disrespect in my classroom on a daily basis. I did love the video, though; I could hear his dad’s voice.
