We planned a road trip from San Francisco to San Diego, CA and decided that Solvang, California – known as the Danish capital of America – would be one of the places where we stopped along the way.
I used to go to Solvang with my mother when I was a child and I remember thinking it was so charming that it felt like I was walking inside the pages of a picture book. It still feels that way, but better because now I get to walk through those picture book pages with my children.
On our short visit …
We saw windmills.
I marveled at a giant clog.
We went to Solvang Restaurant.
We gorged on aebleskiver.
Have you ever had aebleskivers? They’re like Danish fried pancake balls but better. This was our first time trying them and they are scrumptious orbs of fluffiness that are way too easy to eat.
