The Sky the Day My Brother-In-Law Died

The day my brother-in-law Travis Wilson died, the sky in Hawaii was overcast and it rained off and on. But the moment he died there was no rain falling from the sky. Instead, the sky was a gorgeous shade of blue dappled by diaphanous white clouds. It felt significant that the sky chose to be so beautiful at the moment of his passing, so I took a picture of it.

Travis Wilson

Travis was only 40 years old. He leaves behind two gorgeous children: a 6-year-old daughter and a 2-year-old son.

We set up a GoFundMe page for his kids. They have lost so much at such a young age. If you can help them in any way, I would be so grateful. Money can’t bring their father back, but it can help feed them and keep a roof over their heads.

Please remember that every day is a gift. None of us know just how long we have. Take nothing for granted and love like every day is your last.

What sad news. We had the same birthday (although not the same year). Lovely that you could find something beautiful in that sorrow.
