Hola Chulas y Chulos! I hope it has been an exceptional week for you and what better way to end it than with a smack on the pompis from The Flying Chancla Report? My intrepid chancla has been busy all week finding items that you will give a flying chancla about.
Here we go:
- Dustin Hoffman brought me to tears in this video as he discusses the movie “Tootsie” and why he HAD to make it. It’s a great story and you should most definitely watch and listen to him tell it because when he gets to the part where he says, “there’s too many interesting women I have…not had the experience to know in this life because I have been brainwashed” he is saying something so incredibly true and still so incredibly relevant that I can’t help burst into an ugly cry.
ALSO READ: Second-Hand Farts (‘cause sometimes you’re at a thrift store and you can’t keep the pedos in) - Craving something sweet? How about an apple pie taco? This Instagram video makes them look pretty easy to make and the truth is that I am very intrigued by the concept. Apple pie and tacos seem like a winning combo to this Mexican American or American Mexican.
- I know some people don’t think white privilege is a thing, but I’m gonna go ahead and say that in certain situations in the country it certainly doesn’t hurt to be white that’s why I found this video for a service called White Squad hilarious in a painfully truthful way.
I was so intrigued by the video that I went looking for the White Squad website and found it. The site boasts “Our White Squad Team Members are waiting to serve you! Say goodbye to systemic prejudice and enjoy the social and institutional benefits previously available only to white people.”
I wondered about the price and under FAQ I found out that the service is free. Then I saw this question: “I want to get into college but affirmative action makes it harder for white people like me. Can White Squad help me?” The answer is GOLD: “It’s great that you’re pursuing higher education! We understand that can be tough. Affirmative action is actually about providing an equal playing field rather than providing preferential treatment. As a white person, you already have a greater chance of getting into college than a person of color so White Squad would have no effect.”
I’m pretty sure this isn’t a real service, it seems to be something put together by MTV, but dang it if there isn’t a need for it.
And that my chancleros is todo for this week. I love you mucho and remember, spread love, not chanclazos!
