Hola Chulas y Chulos, your weekly smack from The Flying Chancla Report is here! It’s a goodie for sure with awkward issues caused by being Latino, what minorities are really like when they are alone at work and a fight between Mario Lopez and Oscar de la Hoya.
-
Latinos do certain things differently in certain social situations than non Latinos and sometimes those different social behaviors have awkward results as captured by this super chistoso video “8 Awkward Moments Only Latinos Understand” by the folks at Pero Like.

Now this next little piece is so freakin’ funny my chancla and I can’t even. It’s about that whole code switching that happens at work when minorities are alone together because you know we know how to stay in “line with the brand messaging,” but we’re not freakin’ cultureless robots. Hee hee…so in case you’ve never witnessed it in person or even if you have, this is what minorities are like when they are alone at work…

And filed under “cosas you can’t make up” on June 11 Mario Lopez will step into a boxing ring to fight retired boxing superstar Oscar de la Hoya. WHAT?! Lopez loves boxing and he trains at Freddie Roach’s Wild Card Gym (don’t you just love the name) at least three times a week, but why in heavens name would he want to fight Oscar de la Hoya?
It’s all for charity. They will be fighting at the Rail Event Center in Salt Lake City to raise awareness and funds for CharityVision an international nonprofit dedicated to helping restoring eyesight in curable sight impairment cases worldwide. It is estimated that the Mario Lopez versus Oscar de la Hoya fight will help raise $1 million, which will help provide treatment to 40,000 people.
Call me crazy, I’m a Latina who doesn’t love boxing (don’t tell my mamá please, she might disown me), but I’m glad that this fight is for a good cause and I hope that both these gentlemen don’t punch each other’s faces too hard because they sure are pretty, aren’t they?
