I’m vlogging! When I was in Miami, Carrie, one of the lovely writers of Tiki Tiki asked me to tell a story about my mother on camera. Perhaps, it was the heat or giddy atmosphere, but she didn’t have to twist my arm for very long. Just watched the video…that is such an adorable story Mami! I can relate, because my mom speaks English, but sometimes things still get lost in translation when she applies her Tagalog to things. So funny! It's sweet though that she missed you that much.
Cute story, and a sweet mama! I must confess that when I read your blog, your voice/accent in my head is that of 'Gloria' from Modern Family. Turns out I was completely wrong!

Loved the story!!! Your poor mom! She was just trying to tell you she missed you. 🙂 I understand about the lost in translation with my mom who was raised in Puerto Rico until she was 16. She is a lot quicker at understanding jokes now, but every now and then she gets a little lost.

Just watched your vlog! I was all amped up thinking we might get to see your face or something, but no such luck!! You are so sneaky. But anyway, I loved your story. Lost in translation, huh? So many things like that when you are translating from one language to another. Which is how a girl in my study abroad program in Chile ended up telling her family that she had a penis in her butt. Uh huh. Now that was embarassing.
She meant to say that she had a "pain" in her butt. Just thought I'd clear that up in case you were wondering.
