The morning after Thanksgiving my eldest, Put Pie, woke up in the best mood EVER. She was all smiley and energetic, she ran to the foot of my bed and stood there with a huge grin on her face. I said, “Yes?” To which she answered, “Christmas?” Apparently, she was under the mistaken assumption that it was Christmas because all year I’ve been telling her that Christmas is after Thanksgiving. I did not mean it was the DAY after Thanksgiving, but that’s what she had interpreted it to mean.
I probably don’t need to tell you that she was mightily disappointed when I told her that it wasn’t actually Christmas. She did her best to argue Christmas into being, but I told her she would have to wait. Next time, I will be sure to be more specific. In the meantime, the best that I could do was to start unpacking Christmas.

How sweet! I confess I would have MADE it Christmas! The first photo of her is something I’ll carry in my heart! I am so glad you unpacked Christmas!
May Christmas be everything both you and she wish for.
I remember – more than a decade ago – Vidur was looking for sometihng – and I asked him to look under his shirt. I meant in his closet – but he thought literally and lifted the shirt he was wearing to look under it.
Hugs and happy Thanksgiving to you!

You really cannot afford to be ambiguous with the kids! 😀 The pictures are so pretty – all red and green and Christmasy. I hope the unpacking was some consolation to the little one.

Not easy to understand the waiting part when your young. The unpacking of Christmas is always magical!
