Brought to you by Walgreens.
I’ve been spending a lot of time lately at the corner of Healthy + Happy, which is where every Walgreens is no matter what the location. Earlier this month I was invited to the grand opening of the San Francisco Walgreens Flagship store and I couldn’t believe I was in a pharmacy. The place is GORGEOUS!
As part of the celebration in honor of the SF Walgreens Flagship store, the UP Market: Fresh bus has been making the rounds in the Bay Area, providing a mobile tasting tour of some of the fresh offerings available at the flagship store. The tour began on May 17 and will continue through May 31. To find out where the Up Market: Fresh bus will be next, follow it via Twitter @upmarketfresh.
I got a chance to catch up with the bus when it was at the Walgreens at 1189 Potrero Avenue in San Francisco. It was a Sunday and I took my whole family with me. The bus is a 40-foot custom made beauty with food samplings inside.
One of the things that really impressed me about the flagship store is the amount of food choices available and that so many of the options are healthy. I had never ever (before) thought of Walgreens as a place to stop for a quick bite. Having these offerings is in keeping with Walgreens’ mission to get and keep you healthy. Oh and many of the Walgreens stores, not just the flagship stores, have fresh food offerings so don’t feel left out if you are going to a “regular” Walgreens store. Think of the flagship stores as a good thing that just got better.
Available only at the SF flagship store are some wonderful juices and smoothies like Painted Lady Punch, Cable Car and Carrot, and Ocean Beach Peach. So good! My favorite is the Painted Lady Punch, which is a blend of apples, strawberries, lemon, and ginger; it just makes you feel fresh-er.
Every healthy diet can handle the occasional treat and I’d have to say that the frozen yogurt was the biggest hit with my family.
My girls loved the frozen yogurt and I never even told them about the toppings available because I was afraid they would never let me leave.
If you live anywhere near a Walgreens Flagship store, I recommend you visit if you haven’t already. You may be pleasantly surprised by all the innovations and improvements that they have made. Walgreens has always been a place I shop because of its convenience, pricing, and practicality, but visiting the flagship store was a totally new experience. It is the kind of place where I will linger if I have the time, not just rush in to get the one thing that I need.
Two lucky readers of this blog will receive a $25 Walgreens gift card and you know there is always something at Walgreens that you need.
