What I Did this Summer

Remember when you would go back to school and be asked how you spent your summer vacation? Well, for years summer hasn’t been any different for me than the rest of the year.

I’d love to travel, but there just isn’t the money for it. Instead, I go out and enjoy my beautiful city. I love my city so much that I started posting Sundays In My City as a way to share the beauty that surrounds me with my bloggy buddies.

On August 9th I decided to turn Sundays In My City into a weekly link up. You don’t have to live in a “city” to participate; it can be a town, a suburb, a farm, whatever. I was afraid no one would link up, but I did it anyway. Then something wonderful happened. My bloggy buddies did link up and the world opened up to me.

Let me share just a few highlights of my travels thus far.

Joanna from The Fifty Factor was nice enough to show me around L.A. and introduce me to some of her famous friends.

Apparently, Jack likes to dress up when he’s not at a Lakers game, but some celebrities prefer a more casual look like Steven.

The best part about my cybertravels is finding myself in places I never would have thought of visiting. Rebeckah from Life with Kaishon took me to Wildwoods, New Jersey.

Doesn’t it look like a fun place?

The United States is so vast and there is so much of it that I have not seen, but thanks to Julia from Brainella the Librarian I got to enjoy these gorgeous views of Bryce Canyon National Park.

Don’t they just take your breath away?

When I went to call on The Peterson Family, they showed me a silver tree in St. Louis.

A tree made out of silver? !

I’m embarrassed to admit that I do not have a passport. I will be getting one soon, but that didn’t stop me from visiting a castle in Trinidad with my friend, Mom of Three from When Did I Become My Mom?

I mean look at this place! Can you imagine the tales the walls would tell, if they could talk?

Helen from Feeding Five For Fifty took me to see the Cloisters in Glasgow.

I’ve never seen anything like them.

Oh, and guess where The Misadventures of Mub took me?

The Netherlands!

Frau from West Family Adventures invited me to stroll through Rhododendron Park in Germany. I was stunned by the beauty.

I wish I could show you all the sights I’ve seen on Sundays, but you’ll just have to stop by and see them yourself if you are interested. I promise you it will be the cheapest most eco-friendly trip you’ve ever taken.

BTW, I live in this beautiful city:

I’ve seen amazing places and made great friends this summer. This experience has really helped foster a sense of community and even though summer is over, I still get to travel every Sunday. My motto has become: I showed you mine, now you show me yours. Stop by and show us yours or just take a look at ours.
Let’s travel the world together!
