Arata Farm, San Mateo’s oldest working pumpkin farm, is about an hour away from our home in San Francisco. The farm has been growing pumpkins since 1932. I was checking out their website and found out that it all came about because in the 1930s brothers John and Clarence Arata planted pumpkin seeds to feed their family’s hogs. Then one day someone driving along the highway saw them hauling the pumpkins and stopped to buy some. It appears they’ve been in the pumpkin business ever since.
We had a great time, the farm is GOURDGEOUS.

That looks like a fun time! I use to enjoy getting pumpkins with my children when they were little.
